The brief

Txoko is a fictional asador in Bilbao: charcoal grill, pintxos at the bar, long tables at the back. The brief was a site that feels as loud and warm as the room on a Friday night, puts tonight's menu one tap away, and makes booking a table faster than calling.

Approach

  1. 01

Built the identity on the colours of the Basque flag: deep green carries whole sections, while red is kept for every action, like the booking buttons.

  2. 02

Led with photography of the grill, the thing people remember, and kept type big and blunt like a chalkboard.

  3. 03

Designed the menu as a chalkboard with tabs, so a phone user can jump straight to what they came for.

  4. 04

Put a booking panel in the first scroll, with party size and time in two taps.

Outcome

A site that feels like walking in from the street, with the menu and the booking never more than one tap away. Concept project: not a real restaurant.
