The brief

Arkal is a fictional architecture practice in Donostia working in concrete, timber and light. Clients and juries judge them by their images. The brief: get out of the way of the work, and make a large archive easy to filter by type of project.

Approach

  1. 01

    Set everything on a strict Swiss grid: black, white and concrete grey, with one safety-orange accent for actions.

  2. 02

    Let photographs run full width and large; text is set small and precise, like drawing annotations.

  3. 03

    Built the project index as a filterable list (residential, cultural, interiors) that updates without reloading.

  4. 04

    Added a horizontal strip of recent work that scrolls like a contact sheet.
